A GROUP of Redditch fitness fans will be taking on a 10km ‘wild run’ in a bid to raise money for injured Armed Service personnel.
Team Bert and Ernie - named after one of the exercises they do in training - includes 20 people from the borough who will all be taking part in the Wolf Run, which covers open ground, woodland, lakes and thick mud.
The group, led through their outdoor physical training (OPT) classes by Barny O’Neill and Clinton Slater, have already raised more than £3,000 for the military ward at the QE Hospital in Birmingham but are hoping to raise £10,000 before the run on April 6.
Trainers Barny and Clinton, who both served in the army, said: “They have been training very hard through blood, sweat and tears come wind, rain or shine with us and they all want to raise as much money as possible for this great charity.
“When one of our members, Chris Moakes, came to us about this charity, everybody jumped at the chance to do it for a military-based charity as some have family in the armed forces and we run the classes in a military fashion.
