A WINYATES woman has been banned from entering the town centre.

Cheryl Hemmings, 27 and of Linton Close was given the order at Redditch Magistrates' Court on Tuesday (March 12).

She was originally charged with a Criminal Anti-Social Behaviour Order (CRASBO) in August 2011 after being convicted of a number of public offences and was stopped from entering a number of streets in the town.

Now the order has been changed to include the shopping centre, bus station and Unicorn Hill, and will run until August this year.

If Hemmings breaches the ban she could be arrested by police and fined or imprisoned for five years.

She was one of several people targeted by a police operation in Redditch which aimed to deal with a small number of persistent drinkers causing anti-social behaviour in the town centre.

PC Adrian Corrigan from the town centre’s Safer Neighbourhood Team said he welcomed the extension of Miss Hemmings' CRASBO which came after a number of complaints by residents.

“We intend to rigorously enforce the ban and hope it will put a stop to her appalling behaviour, which has been having a detrimental effect on those working or visiting the town.”

Anyone who knows Cheryl Hemmings and sees her in any of the areas she is banned from is asked to call police in Redditch on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
