POLICE spent over an hour talking down a man threatening to jump from the top level of the Kingfisher Shopping Centre.

A section of the centre from Worcester Square to Evesham Square was closed off from 5pm yesterday (Tuesday) after officers were called following concerns for the man's welfare.

A West Mercia Police spokesman said: "Officers were able to talk the man into letting them help him. He was taken from the scene to receive medical assistance shortly after 6pm.

"No one was hurt during the incident."
