A GENEROUS Enfield boy who chopped off his prized ponytail for charity has raised almost £400 for cancer sufferers.

James Rowand decided to sacrifice his hairstyle, which he had been growing for almost two years, in a bid to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

The seven-year-old St Thomas More Catholic First School pupil had the haircut at Icons Hair and Beauty after finding out more about organ donation and the problems facing those with the disease.

His mother Becci said: “He was a little bit upset when he got back because he’s been growing it for a couple of years but now he is really proud of himself and all of his friends and family are too.

“I explained to him the money he has raised has probably saved someone’s life so he was very pleased about that.”
