Police release image of sex offender

THIS is the image of a man police want to trace in connection with a sexual assault in Redditch.

The incident involved an attack on a woman in her 20s as she walked through an underpass leading from the Tesco car park to Mickleton Close in Oakenshaw around midnight on Saturday, March 2.

The victim ran from the scene and a passing motorist raised the alarm after finding her in a distressed state on Evesham Road about 12.45am on Sunday, March 3.

Det Insp Leighton Harding said although the woman was not seriously hurt this was a serious offence and it is vital they found the person responsible.

He said: "We have released this e-fit image of the attacker in the hope that someone will recognise him and give us a name."

Despite an earlier appeal, police had not been able to trace the occupants of a silver car which passed the woman near the water tower in Headless Cross Drive between midnight and 12.45am on the night of the attack.

He said: “We are not suggesting anyone in that car was involved in the offence but we still need them to come forward and help our investigation. We need to trace anyone who was out and about in that area at the time.

"I would urge people to get in touch if they remember anything at all which could potentially help us.”

The attacker was a white man in his 20s with blond hair. He was wearing jeans and a dark, waterproof coat with a hood.

Anyone with any information should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
