Hundreds expected at Save the Alex meeting

ABOUT 300 people are expected to pack into the Palace Theatre tonight (Monday) to hear about the future of the Alexandra Hospital.

The Save the Alex campaign has organised the meeting to give residents the chance to hear for themselves the facts about what is happening as regards the Joint Services Review and ask questions of doctors from Redditch and Bromsgrove who will be responsible for making the final decision.

The current options on the table will be outlined in as much detail as possible and residents will be able to put questions directly to the decision-makers as well as members of the Save the Alex campaign.

Two options are currently on the table. One will see Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust continue to run services at the Woodrow Drive site with A&E, maternity and paediatrics centralised into Worcester. Option 2 will see hospital Trusts in Birmingham run services at the Alex with WAHT continuing to provide services for the rest of the county.

Both will be available to put to the public in mid-May or June with a final decision expected in November.

Tickets for tonight's meeting are still available by calling 01527 65203 before 4pm. A limited number will also be available on the door.
