THE DAUGHTER of a former councillor has raised more than £1,300 by shaving her head in his memory.
Lisa King decided to fund-raise for the Primrose Hospice unit at the Princess of Wales Hospital in Bromsgrove after her dad Robin passed away last March, aged just 60, following a fight with blood cancer and a brain tumour.
Mr King, who was married to the borough's current deputy mayor Wanda King, represented the Church Hill ward from 2007 and was also a long-serving member of the Labour Party and treasurer of the Redditch Constituency Labour Party.
The 18-year-old Trinity High School student raised over £1,342, with staff at Mr Stopps in Headless Cross carrying out the head shave for free.
A spokeswoman for the hospice described the total as 'staggering'.
Lisa added: "My dad only visited the hospice for a short amount of time, but that time really helped us as well as all the ongoing support that I have received."
