THE HUNT is on for a Redditch restaurant to potentially represent the region in a competition run by MPs to find the best South Asian restaurant in the country.

Redditch MP Karen Lumley has been invited to submit an entry to The Tiffin Cup and is asking Standard readers to help choose her nomination.

Ten entrants will then be shortlisted and invited to a special cook off at Bellamy's Restaurant in the House of Commons decide the overall winner.

The contest was set-up in 2006 to help promote the industry by enthusiastic curry fans in Parliament. It is run in aid of charity and this year's proceeds will go towards the World Vision which aims to transform the lives of the poorest people living in the developing world.

Mrs Lumley said: "There are so many great Asian restaurants in Redditch I can't decide so I am giving the public the chance to choose which one should represent us."

Residents can vote by sending a message through the Redditch Standard's Facebook page or email Tiffin Cup to editor@redditchstandard.co.uk or send your nomination to Tiffin Cup, Redditch Standard, Church Green East, Redditch B98 8BP. Deadline for entries is 5pm on Friday, March 22.
