A SUPPORT group for people affected by lung conditions has donated vital equipment to help patients at the Alexandra Hospital.

Breathe Easy has donated three Masimo Rad-5 pulse oximeters worth £1,200 to the Woodrow Drive Hospital in memory of respiratory patient Terry Osborne, who died last March. Mr Osborne was an active supporter and chairman of the group for four years and took part in many charitable events.

The devices will allow nurses to monitor the levels of oxygen in a patient’s blood even if they have poor circulation or while they are moving.

Mr Osborne's wife Val said: "Terry had such a passion for Breathe Easy and the respiratory nursing team at the Alexandra Hospital, he called them ‘his nurses’ as they were always at the end of the phone when he needed them.

"I’m so grateful to all of the nurses and the Breathe Easy group for all their help and support over the years. I’m glad we were able to use the money from Terry’s funeral to benefit local respiratory patients, I know it’s what he would have wanted too."
