DOCTORS from Redditch and Bromsgrove are set to meet in public for the first time ahead of taking control of buying in healthcare services for the two towns.

Redditch and Bromsgrove Clinical Commissioning Group's governing body holds its first public meeting at Redditch Town Hall on Thursday (February 28) between 9.30am and 12.30pm.

Issues on the agenda include a discussion on a response to the findings of the Francis Report into the failings at Mid Staffordshire Foundation Trust, the Joint Services Review which will affect the future of the Alexandra Hospital and financial and performance reports.

The public will also be able to ask questions about items on the agenda at the end of the meeting.

The group has been working behind the scenes since early last year in preparation for taking over from NHS Worcestershire which is being disbanded in April as part of government healthcare reforms.

The CCG will have a budget of £182million and be responsible for planning and buying in healthcare services in Redditch and Bromsgrove.

Dr Jonathan Wells, chair and clinical leader of NHS Redditch Clinical Commissioning Group, said: "Our public meeting is an opportunity for people to come and find out more about us and how we plan to improve the health and wellbeing of people locally. As a CCG we are committed to listening and responding to Redditch and Bromsgrove patients and public, so this meeting gives people the chance to be part of CCG business, with an opportunity to ask questions.

"We hope it will be attended by many people we’ve already got to know and others we have yet to meet. Anyone with an interest in local health issues will be warmly welcomed."

The public are asked to confirm they are attending the meeting by emailing Bethan Flynn at bethan.flynn@worcestershire.nhs.uk or call 01527 488746.

The agenda and papers are available to view online at www.redditchandbromsgroveccg.nhs.uk - the next meeting takes place on Thursday, March 28, at 9.30am to 12.30pm at BHI Parkside, Stourbridge Road, Bromsgrove, B61 0AZ.
