Scores to say goodbye to Bill

SCORES of mourners are expected to turn out to pay tribute to community figure Bill Malin next week.

The family of the Alcester Town Councillor, who passed away last week from pneumonia, have invited residents to say goodbye to him in a public ceremony.

The service will take place at St Nicholas' Church on High Street at 1pm next Wednesday (February 27).

There will be a guard of honour by members of the British Legion and town criers, while the service will also be broadcast on a speaker outside the church for those who cannot get into the building.

His son David Malin said he had been overwhelmed by the support he had received so far.

"We have had literally hundreds of cards and messages from all round the world. As my father was a Town Crier, criers from Australia and America have sent us lovely messages.

"We expect to see a lot of people turnout and everyone is welcome. I'm sure it will be quite an occasion."

A gathering will also be held after the service at The Swan Hotel.
