A MAN was taken to hospital after he was attacked and robbed in Smallwood.

The 22-year-old was walking along Ipsley Street near Redditch Youth House about 5.20pm on Monday (February 11), when he was approached by two young men.

He was then attacked and dragged to the floor before they stole his Insignia mobile phone.

He was taken to the Alexandra Hospital with injuries to his nose, jaw and cheek, where he still remains.

Both attackers, who are described as white and Asian, are believed to be about 20-years-old and were wearing black clothing.

Det Con Andy Baxter said: "We are eager to hear from anyone who was in the Ipsley Street area on Monday evening and thinks they may have seen these men or the robbery taking place.”

Witnesses or anyone with any information should contact Det Con Baxter on 101, quoting incident reference 519-S-110213, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
