TRIBUTES have been paid to a long-serving councillor who passed away earlier this week.
Bill Malin, who had served on Alcester Town Council for 40 years, died at Warwick Hospital on Wednesday morning, where it is believed he had pneumonia.
The 81-year-old had enjoyed a retirement party where he was thanked for his work and dedication to the town, just two weeks before his death.
Mr Malin, who was born in the town and lived there all his life, originally joined the council in June 1973 and became chairman in 1977, High Bailiff in 1983 and Mayor Alcester in 1992.
A statement from Alcester Town Council said: "It's a sad day for Alcester Town Council and for Bill's family. He was a well liked member of the council who has been a mayor on at least two occasions and a councillor for 40 years.
"We are all saddened by his death and as a council we are here to support his family during this difficult period.
"Many people of the town knew Bill very well and we are sure at the time of his funeral there will be a significant number of people there to express their condolences.
"The council will miss him."
