ONE OF Alcester's long serving councillors has retired after 40 years.
Bill Malin, who was born in the town and has lived there all his life, was presented with a crystal glass by the council for his work and dedication.
The 81-year-old originally joined the council in June 1973 to speak on behalf of residents and help resolve complaints.
He has also been a member of the Royal British Legion for 20 years and helps charity groups in the town.
He said his highlights were becoming chairman of the council in 1977, High Bailiff in 1983 and Mayor of Alcester in 1992.
"I've had a good run and in April I'm 82 so I think it's time for me to have a bit of rest. I've enjoyed this last 40 years and I want to say a big thank you to everyone."
He added he will continue his volunteer work at Globe House and will remain a part of Alcester's strong community.
