Ready for a day at the pancake races

A FLIPPING good time is on offer in Alcester as the town prepares to hold its annual pancake races.

Members of Alcester Court Leet are hosting the event in the High Street on Shrove Tuesday (February 12).

From 12.30pm children, men, women and teams will be sprinting against each other to win prizes included chocolate eggs, lollies, certificates and the pancake race cup.

People are invited to join in with the races or cheer on competitors from the sidelines.

High Bailiff John Mills said: "The pancake race is just one of the many traditions the Court Leet has kept going. All the school's are invited to take part and it's fantastic to see everyone come together and have lots of fun.

The event is expected to last about an hour and the High Street will be closed off.
