Cricket clubs seeking new faces

By Liam Moakes Tuesday 05 February 2013 Updated: 06/02 19:51

PRE-SEASON training is now underway for more local cricket clubs who are keen to attract new faces to their ranks.

The Astwood Bank girls and ladies team began their training ahead of the 2013 season this week, whilst Feckenham's winter nets are also now underway.

Astwood Bank have successfully run girls teams at under 13 and under 15 level and many younger players take part in the rookies training throughout the summer months.

The teams play in the local league and also in a national competition run by the Lady Taverners.

In addition, the club also have a ladies team that plays both in the Worcester evening 20/20 league as well as in a Sunday league which is run across the Midlands.

Astwood Bank Cricket Club is a thriving sports club and prides itself on being friendly and welcoming to all.

Throughout the summer the social side is also important and many players and parents of the younger players support the regular events the club holds.

Therefore, all abilities and ages are catered for, so if anyone is interested in starting a new sport then the sessions are held at Trinity High School & Sixth Form Centre on Friday evenings between 5.45-6.45pm.

Anyone interested can either just turn up or contact ladies' captain Jenni Haslam on 07411 246936 for more information. You can also visit www.thebankcc.blogspot.co.uk.

FECKENHAM'S indoor nets are taking place every Sunday between 3-4pm at Prince Henry's High School in Evesham.

The address for the school is Victoria Avenue, Evesham, Worcestershire, WR11 4QH, and the cost will be £5 per session.

The club is looking for new playing members of all ages and abilities and if anyone wishes to come along they are very welcome.

For further information on the above contact Luke Jackson on 01527 836178 or 07891 202327, or alternatively e-mail lukjac1985@hotmail.com.
