A MAN has been handed a community order after stealing about £40 worth of goods from a Redditch store.
Christopher Poyner, 33 and of Culmington Road, Northfield, was seen on CCTV stuffing items including Blu-Tack, pens and Pepsi into his bag at B&M Bargains in the Kingfisher Shopping Centre on January 15.
He had admitted he wanted to sell the goods for about £10 to £15, despite them being worth a total of £41.37.
He appeared before Redditch Magistrates' Court on Wednesday (February 6) where the court heard Mr Poyner was a 'career shoplifter' having been on conditional discharge for two similar offences in Telford and Sheffield.
Dean Hicks, defending, described the latest theft as a 'clumsy effort with no professional hallmark'.
Poyner, whose health problems were taken into account, was sentenced to a six-month community order with a supervision requirement for the same period where he will have to attend the probation office in Selly Oak on a regular basis.
Magistrates told Poyner as he had served three weeks in prison there was no point in sending him back.
"You've had a lot of chances, this is probably going to be your last one."
