MORE bus stops are set to be overhauled as part of a £2.8 million travel scheme.

Phase 2 of the Choose How You Move stop enhancement project will see Evesham Road, Walkwood Road and Swinburne Road shelters improved before the end of March.

It follows the first phase of the scheme which targeted Coldfield Drive, Castleditch Lane, Pheasant Lane and Grangers Lane at the end of 2012.

Improvements will see new or replacement bus shelters installed featuring bespoke artwork, specially designed kerbs to help improve accessibility, new pedestrian crossings and new timetables displayed.

Work on stops along the 55 and 56 will continue into the spring before the project moves on to routes 51, 57 and 58.

Coun John Smith, Worcestershire County Council cabinet member for highways and transport, said: "Working with our partners Redditch Borough Council and the bus operators we believe the enhancements to bus stop facilities as part of the Choose How You Move project will improve the experience of existing bus users and give confidence to new users of the bus network in the town."
