CUSTOMERS at a Studley butcher's will still be meated and greeted by John Williams despite the shop changing hands.
After more than 35 years serving residents, butcher John Williams, of John Williams Butchers on Alcester Road, has hung up his apron for the last time.
The 63-year-old, who lives in Redditch, said goodbye to staff and regulars after deciding to retire.
"I’ve had the best job in the world for over 35 years. Many thanks to my customers who over time became friends," he said.
But there will be no need for new signs or a change of name, as food and catering businessman John Williams, is the new owner.
"It is a huge coincidence we are both in the meat industry and share the same name. I've actually known about the business for years and although I'm not a butcher myself, I've worked with John and his brilliant staff before.
"When I heard he was retiring I couldn't think of a better place to invest in and after all it had my name above the door already."
