Hi: 24° Lo:11° 7 day

GRITTERS are set to be out and about across the county's roads over the weekend.
According to MET Office forecasts, overnight rain could worsen tomorrow (Saturday) with some sleet possible over hills while that night and into Sunday there could be snow. Road surface temperatures will also fall below freezing.
Worcestershire County Council's team of 31 gritters will be out from 7pm to treat pre-identified sections of highway and ensure known problem spots are treated. They will then remain on standby throughout the weekend ready to treat roads as required.
Highways manager Jon Fraser said: "With the latest MET Office forecasts indicating the likelihood of more snow over the weekend, our gritting teams are well prepared and ready to go out to support residents and businesses on the county's roads again.
"Once again it's important to remember that grit, whilst it helps to keep vehicles moving, is never a miracle solution and it's essential to take care when out on the roads in the snow or ice."
