CARERS have their own dedicated space at the Alexandra Hospital thanks to donations from the League of Friends.
The organisation raised more than £4,000 to provide two new carers' respite rooms within the Woodrow Drive hospital for those who want to stay close by when their loved ones are admitted.
It means carers staying with the person they look after while they are in hospital can have a break from the ward and forms part of a Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust commitment to ensure all carers are treated with dignity and respect and are supported to continue their role within the hospital.
Matron Jane Rutter said: "I am so pleased we now have this much-needed facility available within the hospital.
"It is so good to have a dedicated room where carers can go to for a break away from the ward and for relatives to have some privacy in times of need."
League of Friends chair Pat Hadley said: "This is just one of the many causes we help the hospital to achieve, in total over £4,000 has been donated to help furnish and redecorate these rooms for carers.
"They will be hugely beneficial to all carers who spend so much time in the hospital. As a carer myself I know the value of space to clear your head and relax. These rooms will certainly be well used."
