Hi: 15° Lo:3° 7 day

AN ELDERLY woman was left with a head injury after burglars broke in and stole cash and jewellery.
The victim was in the kitchen of her home in Marsden Road, Smallwood, at around 1.30pm yesterday (Thursday) when she heard noises from the lounge.
She went to investigate and was confronted by four men who had kicked in the front door. Two pushed past her and went upstairs, pushing her down when she tried to follow them.
Her husband, a man in his 60s, was having a bath and tried to get out of the bathroom when he heard the commotion but the door was pulled closed by one of the offenders.
The others searched the room upstairs before they left, taking cash, Asian jewellery, bank cards and passports.
All four were white and aged 30 to 40.
An ambulance was called as a precaution as the women had sustained a minor head injury.
DC Claire Johnson said: "This was a terrifying incident for the couple, who were extremely shaken and distressed."
Anyone with any information should call 101, quoting incident number 329-S-310113, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
