THE FINAL fixture of the Gloucester Cross Country League was held at Plock Court on Saturday and it made a nice change for the Bromsgrove & Redditch Athletic Club members to be back racing on green grass after the last few weeks of racing on snow and ice.
In a field of just over 140 runners it was Mark Appleton who finished first for the club in 11th position.
Next was Joe Smith who finished 17th, followed by Kevin Lanckham (21st), James Hood (26th), Andrew Freeman (57th), Dean Hartshorne (61st), Ian Keyte (77th), Jamie Dancyger (81st), Peter Hawcroft (97th) and Ian Nutter (113th).
The women had a brilliant event as Sally Hogan took sixth place, Tamara Ball was not far behind in 14th and Melanie Hepke finished 19th.
Charlotte Ball was 35th, Jayne Parsons 47th, Jane Anderson 52nd and Ann Stuart 57th.
The under 17 ladies race saw a win for Orianna Ball who placed second in the overall under 17 category.
Hogan also achieved second spot in the under 20 overall competition and Charlotte Ball was second in the over 50 female category.
Good, consistent results over the four fixtures in the Gloucester League team competition provided bronze medals for the senior women's team.
