THE STUDIO space at Redditch’s theatre has been overhauled thanks to a £1,000 donation from a town restaurant.
Rilys on Alcester Street has sponsored redevelopments to The Room Upstairs at the Palace Theatre on the same road.
A venue spokesman said: “Their funding has helped to re-equip and refurbish the old space making it a more welcoming and functional room for community use, intimate theatrical productions and musical events.
“The Room Upstairs is used not just for staged events but also for community activities during the day. It already hosts the Redditch Art Circle, Line Dancing and singing and performing arts academy Vocalize as well as the Palace’s own Youth Theatre.”
Events for the spring season include a performance of Edgar Allen Poe’s ghost stories next Saturday (February 9), folk band Mawkin on February 19 and All and Sundry’s production of The Glass Menagerie from February 22 to 24.
Anyone interested in hiring the room should e-mail Dave Wilkins at dave.wilkins@bromsgroveandredditch.gov.uk or call theatre manager Tim Mackrill on 01527 61544.
Tickets to performances in The Room Upstairs are available by calling 01527 65203. Visit www.redditchpalacetheatre.co.uk for more information.
