Youth House meeting rescheduled

CAMPAIGNERS fighting to save the town's Youth House are set to host a rearranged meeting in a bid to get the public involved.

Residents are invited to join members of the Redditch Youth and Community Enterprise (RYCE) at the Town Hall on Wednesday, February 20, at 6pm following the cancellation of last week's original date due to bad weather.

Attendees will be able to learn more about forming the group as a charitable community benefit society, with residents owning shares it in, as part of its bid to take over the running of the Ipsley Street venue which was closed by Worcestershire County Council at the end of 2012.

Chair Ray Groves said: "We want to set up a co-op with support from local people that can attract funds to buy the centre from the county council.

"We already have plenty of expressions of support to help us register the co-op but we need more and, crucially, we need investment from local people.

“When we launch our scheme in the next few weeks we will need a number of people and organisations to invest £100 in the charity’s shares to unlock further funds. The shares can be paid for in instalments, attract a good rate of interest and an investor can withdraw their money if they wish."
