A REDDITCH man has been charged with stealing more than £750,000 from a borough bank.
The 26-year-old, who is from the town, is alleged to have taken £752,155 from the Halifax branch in Evesham Walk, where he worked as a counter support officer.
The cash was taken from an account used to supply funds to an ATM machine and was stolen between September 2011 and July 2012, when the bank's own internal processes flagged up the issue and an investigation began.
He was arrested in August last year, before being formally charged on January 16 with three offences of theft by an employee totalling £187,155 and a further three counts of committing fraud by abuse of position worth £565,000.
He was released on police bail to appear at Redditch Magistrates' Court on Tuesday (February 5).
