MORE than £100,000 could be spent on a new skate park in Alcester.
The park which will cost in the region of £120,000 is set to be built on the former Conway Fields, now known as the Jubilee Fields.
But in order for the works to go ahead, a new housing development needs to sell 100 homes as part of a section 106 agreement made between Alcester Town Council and Redrow housing developers.
Redrow agreed to fund £160,000 worth of community projects in exchange for around 125 new homes to be built on Kinwarton Farm Road, just inside the parish boundary of Kinwarton.
Councillor John Bunting said he hoped a planning application would be put in soon but feared the current economy could affect when they receive the money.
"In this climate you never know how long it could take to sell the homes. I just hope it's sooner than later, so plans can go ahead."
He added he had asked Alcester's Junior Council to provide ideas for the skate park so the young people of the town could choose what they wanted.
"The best people to decide what should go on the skate park is the people who will be using it. So we've the passed the scheme over to them and I can't wait to here what they have come up with."
