A SITE helping Redditch people recycling unwanted items is celebrating reaching its seventh birthday.
Redditch Freegle was set up on January 8, 2006, in a bid to ensure fewer good-quality items were dumped in landfill by encouraging people to offer them to other residents free of charge instead.
It now has 12,500 members advertising items ranging from furniture, electrical equipment and building materials to pianos, DVDs and children's clothing.
Founder Kevin White said: "Seven years ago, I never dreamed Redditch Freegle could ever be as successful as it has become. We estimate Redditch Freegle saves up to ten tonnes of usable items from landfill each month."
