THE FAMILY of a little girl who battled pneumonia has donated toys to the ward which treated her for the second year running.

Lucy Clarke, now aged four, was treated on the Kingfisher Ward at the Alexandra Hospital in December 2011, spending ten days there before recovering enough to attend the pantomime at Birmingham Hippodrome and meet Cinderella.

Her grandmother Maureen Thorte said the family did not want to forget the good work done for Lucy and had decided to once again top up the 'special cupboard' which contains Disney toys patients can use following treatment.

As well as organising a raffle and coach trip to this year's panto, Lucy's loved ones went carol singing around Alvechurch - where they all live - to raise £350. By buying items in the sale and benefiting from a discount given by the Disney Store, they were able to purchase £955 worth of toys which were handed over to staff on the ward last Friday (January 4).
