REDDITCH Motorcycle Club held its annual Terry Cup motorcycle trial on Sunday when bright skies greeted 86 riders for the 9.30am start from Davis' Yard in Astwood Bank.

Ian Cook from Crabbs Cross, currently lying second in the Clubman's Championship, suffered mechanical failure before the start with his Italian Beta machine, requiring a complete clutch change in the car park.

He eventually made the start 30 minutes late and went on to complete the course for a loss of 66 marks, but unfortunately this did not add to his championship points tally.

Mark Hurlstone from Lodge Park revelled in the muddy conditions once the frost had come out of the ground to finish on 50 marks and just outside the top ten.

In the Expert Elite class local car dealer Mark Hicken showed he is a master when it comes to slippery climbs as he used his experience to finish a very creditable fifth.

However, it was Rowney Green youngster Ben Sprigg on the MRS FRO Systems-supported Sherco who had one of his best rides of the year to take third place in the Expert class behind Ross Danby from Bewdley and Richard Timperley from Holmesfield in Derbyshire.

Thanks go to all the landowners, observers and helpers, without whose help this event would not be possible.
