HEALTHY eating habits will be passed on to Redditch residents thanks to a £10,000 grant.

The money has enabled Redditch Borough Council and Bromsgrove District Council to run training courses with staff and volunteers, teaching them skills they can then pass on to their clients.

Organisations involved include children's centres, schools and other community and voluntary organisations from across the borough.

Training will continue until March 2014 thanks to the funding from the Redditch and Bromsgrove Clinical Commissioning Group, made up of doctors from both towns.

A spokeswoman for the council said: "The frontline professionals attending the training sessions will be equipped with the knowledge, skills and resources to run healthy cookery sessions within their own organisations. This will enable a wide range of groups to access healthy cooking advice."
