Death of young girl is unexplained

THE DEATH of a young girl on New Year's Day is being investigated by police.

Officers were called to the ten-year-old's home in Kingsley Avenue, Lakeside, at 9.52am on New Year's Day after receiving a report she had collapsed.

The girl was taken by ambulance to the Alexandra Hospital where she was confirmed dead a short time later.

Police are officially treating the death as unexplained. A post mortem took place on Wednesday (January 2) with further tests required to determine the exact cause of death and the coroner for Worcestershire has been informed.
