A NIGHTCLUBBER was punched in the head during an attack at a town centre venue.

The victim was walking with friends towards the door to the smoking area in Bar Fever, Market Place, between 10.15pm and 10.30pm on Saturday, December 15, when a man he did not know approached him from behind and punched him, causing him to fall to the floor.

While the 21-year-old was on the floor the man punched him a further twice, causing him to need treatment at the Alexandra Hospital for swelling and bruising to his left eye, a cut above his right ear and a bleeding nose.

The offender was white, aged 18 to 20, of stocky build with short black hair and was wearing a shirt and jeans.

Anyone with any information should call PC Cordelia Thompson on 101, quoting incident number 623-S-171212, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
