A NEW bistro and live music bar could be opening its doors to residents if plans to transform a disused office building are approved.
Permission is being sought to turn the empty building next to the main former LHP Law base on Church Green East, into a new café, bar and bistro, which would also hold music lessons.
Plans submitted to Redditch Borough Council would see the three storey building transformed on each level, with the ground floor boasting an indoor and outdoor seating area where customers could enjoy brunch, lunch, late night bites and snacks.
A coffee shop, deli and pastry bar and a small raised space for live performances could also be on offer.
A function room on the first floor would hold private parties, meetings and training workshops, while the second floor would offer music sessions.
The bid is being supported by Redditch Town Centre Partnership as its forms one of the three projects chosen as part of the Pitch Your Plan scheme, aimed at revitalising the old town area.
Ros Sidaway, a director of Redditch TCP, said: "I think it's quite exciting. It will help draw people in to that part of town, especially with plans to open up Easemore Road again and make more use of the bandstand. It will increase the viability and vitality of the area.
"It's such a lovely building and it's a shame for it not to be used. It will also offer a place for business meetings and lunches during the day. I think it's just what the town needs."
Residents can comment on the plans online up until Monday (November 26) by visiting www.redditchbc.gov.uk. A decision is expected towards the end of December.
