DISCOUNTS and fabulous offers will be just a finger tip away thanks to the launch of a new scheme to help shoppers support Redditch businesses.
The borough is one of the first places in the UK to introduce TikTap, which was officially unveiled to the public in the town centre on Monday (November 19).
People can download the TikTap app on their smartphone which lists details of offers and discounts in their area and they can then be redeemed in store by tapping their device over an electronic pod.
It works using new innovative technology developed by 2ergo, the company behind Orange Wednesdays, and Redditch Town Centre Partnership is supporting its launch by offering to sponsor a pod - which plugs into a socket or till - and annual licence for the first 25 companies which sign up.
Businesses already on board include Eze Fitness, O'Bibi Hair & Tanning, Omega Therapies, Rily's Stanz Square Cafe, Heaphy's and The Rasoi with offers ranging from half price treatments to £85 off annual gym membership and other discounts.
Ros Sidaway, from the Town Centre Partnership, said: "With TikTap we can tell a story about what there is available locally and why residents should spend more time and money in their own high streets."
Mark Barnes, partnership manager for TikTap, added: "What is very apparent is Redditch businesses want to use innovation to attract customers. They have a passion for their town and I look forward to working with them."
The app is available to dowload for free from the app store on iphones and the Google Play Store on android platforms. Email Mark Barnes at mark.barnes@tiktap.com, call 07818 596460 or visit www.tiktap.com for more information.
