A KIND-HEARTED woman has helped raise £75 for the Primrose Hospice after reading about the recent theft of Tree of Light donations in the Standard.

Lynn Ward decided to donate funds raised from a raffle to the hospice after she read about the break-in at the charity's Alcester Street shop in Redditch.

The Standard reported two weeks ago how thieves caused about £200 worth of damage and stole envelopes containing money and tributes for the annual Christmas appeal.

"I remember thinking what an awful story and I just wanted to help in anyway I could. I don't know how anyone could take that money, it's an horrific thing to do."

Along with nine other businesswomen, the Studley resident held a Christmas Fayre at her home where 50 people attended and purchased raffle tickets.

"The fund-raising team at the hospice were delighted with the donation. I just hope it will go some way to meeting repairs for the shop or towards the cost of Christmas festivities for people in care."
