Comedian arrested as part of Savile investigation

COMEDIAN Freddie Starr has been arrested in connection with the investigation in to sexual offences allegedly committed by Jimmy Savile and others.

The 69-year-old from Mappleborough Green has been bailed by Met Police after being taken in to custody on Thursday (November 1). It is the second arrest on suspicion of sexual offences made by officers investigating claims high-profile stars were involved in the scandal linked to Savile.

A statement from the Met said: "Officers working on Operation Yewtree yesterday arrested a man in his 60s in connection with the investigation.

"The man from Warwickshire was arrested at approximately 5.45pm on suspicion of sexual offences and was taken into custody. He has since been bailed."

Starr has strenuously denied all allegations made against him.
