Woodrush endure a day to forget

THERE were very few positives for Woodrush to take from Saturday's 34-0 loss at Pershore which saw the hosts move to within a point and a place of fourth placed Woodrush in Midlands Three West (South).

A strong home side scored six tries without response as a lethargic Woodrush were put to the sword.

Admittedly, Woodrush were without their familiar half back pairing of Titch Thomas and Steve Smart but there can be no excuses as they were beaten in just about every department.

Locks Luke Russell and Matt Playford along with No 8 Gary McGrann can held their heads up high having put in a solid performance, but they had little support and the overall team performance was one of non-commitment.

Pershore were 17-0 up in as many minutes and Woodrush were by then dead and buried although the score stayed that way for the rest of the half.

Against the wind and sun, the home side went across the Woodrush whitewash another three times in the second half to round off a miserable afternoon for the visitors.

Tomorrow Woodrush will be hoping for the return of some key players for the visit of local rivals Kings Norton, who are two points below the Icknield Street outfit.

Before the match, Woodrush will be presented with their RFU Accreditation by North Midlands officials after becoming only the fifth North Midlands club to achieve this high standard.
