A TOWN centre sports shop was filled with smoke after two men set off a firework.
The men went into Sports Direct in the Kingfisher Shopping Centre about 2pm on Thursday (October 18) and put a firework inside a pair of tracksuit bottoms hanging on a stand.
They then lit the firework causing it to burn through the tracksuit and launch across the store, filling the shop with smoke.
PC Martyn Dudley of West Mercia Police said: "Nobody was injured and only the tracksuit bottoms were damaged but this had potential to be serious."
Police are now trying to trace customers who were in the shop at the time and saw what happened.
One man has been arrested on suspicion of arson and released on police bail, pending further inquiries.
Witnesses or anyone with any information are urged to contact PC Dudley on the non-emergency number 101 quoting incident 99-n-181012 or ring Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
