RESIDENTS could be without phone and internet access for up to a week due to cable damage.

A BT spokesman said a cable in Feckenham Road had been criminally damaged, with around 525 customers affected.

Homes in the south of the borough lost their BT service around 8.30am on Friday (October 26) with over 100 complaints received within hours.

"We are unable to provide temporary service. We are working to replace a section of the cable and will work round the clock on the repair.

"However, because of the amount of damage, it will be Friday before the last customers are back on line."
