Tennis
Katrina to open superb new Inkberrow courts

By Liam Moakes Thursday 18 October 2012 Updated: 18/10 12:30

INKBERROW Tennis Club will celebrate the opening of its two new resurfaced TigerTurf courts in the company of Stock Green Paralympian Katrina Hart on Sunday.

Katrina, who attended Inkberrow First School, will bring along her bronze medal from the London Olympics 4x100m relay as part of the celebrations, which begin at 1pm before the ribbon cutting takes place at 1.30pm.

There has been significant investment through both fund-raising and loans to resurface two of the four courts at Inkberrow TC with the superb synthetic TigerTurf, which allows play in all weather. The other two courts are new tarmac courts.

It has been a tennis summer to treasure with the success of Andy Murray, Heather Watson and Laura Robson and now Inkberrow hope they can unearth more stars of the future by attracting use of their excellent facilities at the Sands Lane venue.

The club is poised for further success with this development and planned future development.

Inkberrow TC has four men's, three women's and two mixed teams playing in leagues, with social and practice evenings and social events.

There are specific junior coaching sessions, but coaching is available for all, whilst Inkberrow Netball Club also has use of the courts for practice.

As well as being able to have their photograph taken with Katrina, visitors will be able to enjoy tea and cakes, whilst a social tournament open to all - members and people who want to come along and would like to join in the future - is on offer.

If you are interested in joining Inkberrow Tennis Club, please come along on Sunday or contact Steve Price on 01386 792474 (steve.price@hotmail.co.uk) or Debbie Madden on 01386 792099 (debbie_madden@hotmail.com).
