A TEENAGER was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries after a crash in Inkberrow.

The incident after 7pm in Stockwood Lane involved a car and a van and left the teen medically trapped inside the car.

Fire crews worked to release her and she was then taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham with a suspected abdominal injury. Two other patients were taken to the Alexandra Hospital with injuries believed to be less serious.

Mick Cadmen, group commander from Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service, said: "With watch manager Bob Morris from Redditch in charge and guidance from paramedics, crews worked rapidly to remove the roof of the vehicle and extricate the woman.

"She was lifted out of the car on a spinal board, stabilised at the scene and then taken to hospital."

A West Midlands Ambulance spokeswoman confirmed two ambulances and a responder paramedic were sent to the scene, with a trauma doctor meeting the ambulance on route to the QE.
