A TEENAGE boy was grabbed around the throat and headbutted in the face during an attack in Winyates.

The 13-year-old was walking along a pathway near to Fownhope Close at 3.40pm on Thursday (October 4) when he was approached by a youth on a mountain bike.

He rode at the victim and fell off his bike before getting up, grabbing his throat and headbutting him. A woman walking a white Staffordshire bull terrier then shouted at the offender who rode off towards the district centre.

PC Phil Jinks said the victim was left with facial injuries and was very shaken. He added police urgently wanted to speak to the woman who intervened or any other witness.

Anyone with any information should call PC Jinks on 101, quoting incident number 365-S-041012, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
