THE SAVE the Alex petition will be handed over to the man leading the review into hospital services today (Wednesday).

Members of the campaign group will give the 54,000 plus signatures to Eamonn Kelly, chief executive of NHS Worcestershie, at the Alexandra Hospital with a clear message - no to cuts to A&E and maternity services.

Although 53,687 signatures were collected by the time of the set deadline, others have been received since then and have been added to the total taking it to 54,410.

Neal Stote, head of the Save the Alex campaign, said: "The campaign's petition sends a clear message to the Trust that users of the Alexandra Hospital do not agree with their plans for future health care. The fact they have already been forced to delay their short list of options shows they are under pressure to scrap their unworkable proposals."
