A TOP radio DJ is heading up a charity ball being held in Redditch to raise funds for injured servicemen and women.

Russ Morris, of Free Radio Birmingham (formerly BRMB), will host the Heroes and Heroines event at Southcrest Manor Hotel on Saturday, October 13.

The night will raise funds for Help4Heroes, which provides much-needed rehabilitation centres for injured soldiers, particularly those serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Guests will be treated to a three course Indian meal in a marquee in the hotel's stunning grounds, as well as live entertainment from Simply Swing, who performed at The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations.

There will also be fantastic prizes available as part of a raffle, a special game of ‘head and tails’ and the chance to bid in the silent auction.

Simon Chopra, co owner at Southcrest Manor Hotel & Spa, said: "We are extremely proud to be hosting the Heroes and Heroines Ball in aid of Help For Heroes at Southcrest Manor Hotel.

"The events following conflict in Afghanistan has deeply touched us and the local community here in Redditch and I think we can all appreciate how important the Help For Heroes Charity is in helping re-build the lives of our ex-service men and women who have served our country with such selfless dedication."

Organisers are also appealing for any local servicemen and women to get in touch with their experience and any links they may have to Help4Heroes with a view to inviting them along on the evening.

Tickets for the event, which runs from 7pm until 12.30am, cost £60 and include pre-dinner drinks. Businesses can also sponsor the event and a range of packages are available.

Dress code for the evening is black tie/evening dress. To book tickets email Nina Senghera nina@southcrestmanorhotel.com or call 01527 541511. Donations can also be made at www.bmycharity.com/HeroesandHeroines.
