THERE was a slight fall in the number of people claiming Jobseekers Allowance across Redditch during August.

In total 1,935 people were claiming the benefit, just ten less than the previous month but 235 lower than the same time a year ago.

The unemployment rate has also fallen to 4.3 per cent, lower than the West Midlands and national average.

Greenlands remains as the area in Worcestershire with the highest rate of 18 to 24-year-olds out of work.

Redditch MP Karen Lumley said: "Whilst, I understand there is no quick fix solution to improving the economy, the figures show we are heading in the right direction and it remains one of my top priorities."
