THE FINAL track and field league meeting for Bromsgrove & Redditch Athletic Club for the 2012 season took them to Nunnery Wood in Worcester.
B&R's throwing coach, Sam Cater, must have been delighted when he discovered two of his under 17 women had won both the A and B string at the last track and field league meet of the season.
In the A string Charlotte Tongue threw a massive 28.38m to claim a win and Izzy Billau threw 23.35m to claim the B victory.
Charlotte went on to place 6th in the shot (5.42) and in the long jump Izzy took 3rd in the A string (4.77m). Romy Naven placed 4th in the B string with a jump of 3.59m.
Standing her in good stead for the impending cross country season, Anna Ball finished 4th in 5.45m in the 1,500m under 17 ladies race.
In the under 17 sprints Ceri Hammond took 4th (13.9s) and Charlotte Tongue 3rd (14.8s) in the 100m A and B races. In the same age category Izzy Billau had another win, this time in the 300m (42.6), and Romy Naven came 3rd in the 200m (27.2).
In the under 15 girls category Ruth Gameson took 5th in the 1,500m (6.09m), with the sprinters finishing as follows: 75m hurdles Jess Bennett 1st 13.91s; 100m A Rebekah Miller 3rd 14.0s; 100m B Ashleigh Beaven 3rd 13.9s; 200m A Rebekah Miller 2nd 27.9s; 200m B Jess Bennett 2nd 30.5s.
For their field events Ashleigh Beaven won both her long jump (4.35m) and the B string javelin event (15.04). Sydney McKenzie also placed 1st in her two events in the high jump (1.38m) and shot B string (6.25m). Heather Knight took 2nd in the javelin A string (17.78) and 3rd in the shot A string (6.57).
In the under 13 girls events Amy Tongue finished 4th in the 1,500m in 6.25 and Olivia Worth 2nd in the 800m with a time of 2.45.2.
In the sprints, Chloe Payne took 3rd in the 70m hurdles (15.0s), Lucy Harris was 3rd in the 100m (15.1) and Harriet Moseley won the B 100m in 15.8. Olivia Worth placed 5th in the 200m in 33.7 and Harriet Moseley was 6th in the B race in 33.8.
Two second places were achieved in the field events - Chloe Payne in the long jump B with a leap of 3.47 and Amy Mijovic-Couldwell in the javelin with a 14.89 throw. Lucy Harris took 3rd in the long jump A with 3.68 and Amy Tongue threw 5.44 in the javelin B throw.
Nicol Green and Beth Lloyd represented the under 11 girls well. Nicol placed 5th in the long jump with 3.11 and 2nd in the B string of the 75m. Beth won the 600m in 1.57.6 and came 2nd in the 75m in 11.3.
The men's under 17s saw Alistair Mandando finish 3rd in the 800m (2.12.3) and he also high jumped 1.6m to finish 2nd.
James Downing won the B string 800m in 2.14.3 and achieved 2nd in the 400m B in 58.1. Simeon Clarence took 1st in the 400m in 50.3 and another win came for Simeon in the long jump as he leapt 6.32 - 30cm clear of 2nd place.
James Downing took 4th in the B string with 4.48. Lewis Anderson ran the 1,500m in 5.39.9, placing him 4th, and he took 3rd in the javelin with a throw of 4.48.
The under 15 boys competition saw Oliver Kemp finish 1st in the 100m A (13.2), with Andrew Evans-Fisher taking 6th in the B with 15.6.
The 200m saw Danny Nicholls take 2nd in 24.7 and Jake Curtis 1st in the B string with 25.1. In the 400m Jacob Blasdale took 3rd in 62.1 and 4th in the 1,500m (5.06.3).
Field events saw Jake Curtis finish 2nd with 5.3 and Andrew Evans-Fisher 4th in the B with 3.71. Oliver Kemp shot putted 3.71 to finish 2nd and was 2nd in the javelin with a throw of 31.91, with only the first two throwing over 30m.
The under 13 boys competition saw Altay Gardiner take 3rd in the 800m (2.37.3) and Cameron Cooper finish 2nd in the B race (2.38.5).
In the 100m Alfie Pullen placed 5th in a time of 15.4 and Peter Monagham 3rd in the B race in 15.1. Peter then went on to finish 3rd in the 200m (31.8).
Field events saw Dominic Gardiner jump 1.3 in the high jump to place him 2nd and throw 6.72 in the shot to place 3rd.
Peter Monaghan finished 5th in the B shot with 3.31 and Alfie Pullen threw the javelin 17.86 to finish 4th and then went on to jump 3.61 and place 6th in the long jump.
Not to be outshone, the under 11 boys also put in good perfomances. Lewis Byng was in form with a 1st place in the 75m (11.2) and 1st in the long jump (3.94m).
Josh Osbourne-Patel placed 7th in the 600m in 2.08.6, with Theo Gardner placing 4th in the B (2.38.6). Josh went on to place 4th in the 75m B race in 12.5 and won the B string of the long jump in 3.5m.
Phil Woodyatt, team manager for the boys, stated: "Overall the team finished 4th, with the boys finishing 4th and the girls finishing 5th.
"Overall it was a solid end to the season. This result means we stay in this division for next season. A huge thank you and well done to all involved."
Also, as part of the league competition, medals were handed out to the under 11s who had the best overall performance across the league events.
