A DIGGER worth more than £8,000 was stolen from a roadside in Crabbs Cross.

The yellow Volvo EC15DXT was last by its owners seen chained to a dumper truck on the corner of Littlewoods and Evesham Road at 3.20pm last Friday (September 7).

But despite having no battery it was discovered missing at 8.30am on Monday (September 10).

PC Safdar Ali said: "A witness thinks they remember seeing someone interfering with the digger at about 3.30pm on the Saturday so we think this could be when it was taken.

"The thieves must have come prepared with a large lorry to take the digger away and therefore we are hoping that people in the area on Saturday afternoon may have noticed it being taken away."

Anyone with any information about the digger should contact PC Ali on the non-emergency number 101, quoting incident 37-N-100912 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
