Man jailed after injunction breach

A REDDITCH man has been jailed after breaching several injunctions which banned him from visiting a road in Church Hill.

Scott Gibson, of no fixed address, was sentenced to 112 days in prison at Worcester County Court on Tuesday (August 21), after he visited Greystone Close on four separate occasions, despite an injunction banning him from entering the road for two years.

Gibson, who was originally given the order last month, for his unruly behaviour, denied two of the four breaches, but the judge was satisfied after 'credible evidence' was provided by community support officers.

In sentencing, Judge Hooper activated a suspended 56-day prison sentence, imposed at an earlier hearing on 3 July, and added a further 56 days for the recent breach.

He stated the breaches ‘represented serious aggravation' by Mr Gibson as he had already served time in prison for an earlier breach of the injunction.

Redditch Det Insp, Ian Joseph, said: "Mr Gibson failed to respond positively to the injunction which we have been rigorously enforcing.

"He is now having to accept the consequences of breaching the injunction, which in his case means losing his liberty.

"This clearly demonstrates that anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated and should serve as a warning to anyone else causing similar problems in their neighbourhood."

Redditch Borough Councillor, Rebecca Blake, who is responsible for community safety, said “As this case demonstrates the council will, in partnership with the police, robustly enforce injunction breaches to help protect residents.

“When someone continues to make lives a misery through their anti-social behaviour, despite efforts to resolve the situation by other means, we will not hesitate to take court action.”
