Artrix offers packed programme

COMEDY, theatre, music and more are on offer at Bromsgrove’s leading entertainment venue for autumn 2012.

The Artrix line-up sees a return of The Boy With Tape On His Face - More Tape, which sold out for the previous three years.

This act has to be seen to be believed with an ‘endlessly inventive’ and ‘hysterically funny’ show on Thursday, September 6,

at 8pm.

A mix of stories, joke and anecdotes from years at the top are on offer in Gerry Cross The Mersey as Gerry And The

Pacemakers star Mr Marsden takes to the stage to talk about his early beginnings in Liverpool.

Original tickets for the show, which has been moved from February and June to 7.30pm on Thursday, September 13, are still valid.

Music fans have even more to look forward to as Raymond Froggatt celebrates 50 years in showbusiness by touring with his new album Move On, stopping off at Artrix at 8pm on Friday, September 14.

It promises to be an emotionally intensive night with songs that are funny enough to make audiences laugh or emotive enough to make them cry.

A celebration of the music of legendary Carlos Santana is in store on Saturday, September 15, at 8pm as Viva Santana take to the stage.

It is all there, from the powerful four-piece rhythm section to the infectious Cuban piano.

More comedy is on the menu as A Black Country Night Out makes its return to the venue, with Duchess of Dudley Lizzie

Wiggins welcoming Peter Lee, Ian ‘Sludge’ Lee, Giggetty and Dandy to the spotlight for a two-hour show of mirth and

merriment, laughter and song from 8pm on Wednesday, September 19.

The Mid Wales Opera makes a welcome return with a tragic tale of love, lust, betrayal and revenge.

With dramatic, overpowering and seductive music, Don Giovanni starts at 7.30pm on Saturday, September 22.

But it is not just shows on offer at the Bromsgrove theatre, with the relaunch of the popular drama workshops for

youngsters with disabilities on Tuesdays from September 11.

Supported by West Mercia Police as part of Artrix Outreach In Action, the course is mixed age and ability and run by Maggie Bishton.

Anyone wanting to get themselves moving can try out a beginners’ course in belly dancing from Wednesday, September 12.

The ten-week course teaches the correct posture and basic moves building up to a group choreography - with no experience necessary and a friendly, fun and family atmosphere guaranteed.
